Subaru used stub axles from MY01 to early MY04 together with front axle shafts with a mating female inner joint design

Any of these conditions require replacing the gear and hub assembly

Transfer Drive Bearing 5MT Early Forester This is for close (short)Radial ball bearing with dimension 30 x 72 x 17mm. For 5MT applications prior to 04 2000. Later applications use a 4 bolt flanged version of this bearing. Always replace if the bearing feels rough or is noisy. This bearing presses on to the transfer drive gear and is secured with snap ring.
