The tin measures about 5 1/8" tall and about 5 3/8" in diameter

I can say they do seem much more durable than the typical thermoses that were completely encapsulated in metal or Bakelite

The lid says "Hier leg ich meine Waffen nieder und kehre froh zur Heimath weider" (Here I lay down my arms and return from my homeland). The inside says, "Hier in diesem tiefen Schacht, schlact derelli neur die Schlacht" (Here in this deep shaft, the battle fights again). The phrases don't translate well as they are written with a rhyming scheme.
